User Permissions
Every user carries their own permissions — set them on the user's profile.
Every user type has its own set of permissions, and you set them on each user's profile. There are dozens: editing the interest rate, seeing private notes, ordering third-party reports, using the Marketplace, approving servicing changes and more. Hover the i icon next to any permission for an explanation.
Where to set them
Open the user's profile from their list:
- Staff: CRM → Back Office Users, then click the person's name.
- Branches: CRM → Branch → Branch List, then click the branch.
- Brokers and loan officers: CRM → Brokers or CRM → Loan Officers, then click the name.
Three layers of access
What a person can do depends on three things, set in different places:
- Your plan — whether your company has the feature at all. See Plans & Billing.
- Company settings — whether the feature is switched on in Platform Settings.
- The user's permission — whether this person may use it.
"It works for my colleague but not for me"If a colleague can do something and you can't, the plan and company setting are clearly fine — it's your user permission. That's a one-tick fix for whoever manages your users.
Edit rights by file status
Separately from user permissions, each file status controls which user types can edit a file while it sits there — for example, locking the application for borrowers and brokers once a file reaches underwriting. Set these when you set up your statuses. See Loan Stages & File Statuses.
Start narrowGive people the narrowest access that lets them do the job. Widening access later takes two minutes; explaining why a broker saw another broker's deal does not.
